About Us
The Art of Living Foundation is an international organization that offers programs to uncover the strength, peace, and joy that lie at the core of every human being. By nurturing the spirit and compassion of every individual, the Foundation seeks to help build a global society that is free of stress, violence, and misery - and full of service, wisdom, and celebration. The foundation has offered these programs and service in over 140 countries around the world. In the US, these programs have been offered in over 40 states.
Specific program areas: Youth and teens, business, law and government, prison inmates and staff, trauma survivors, people with depression, and programs for people living with cancer, HIV, and other life-threatening diseases.
The Art of Living Foundation has been promoting tree planting for the last many years through its vast volunteer network. Tree plantation forms an integral part of its social intervention program, 5H. Under this program, over 2 millions of trees have been planted in thousands of villages in India. In 2005, the Art of Living distributed 100,000 plants in test tubes in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah during the World Environmental Week.
Art of Living has already planted 1000’s of trees in North America. It also supports community sustenance projects in Haiti by promoting tree planting.
What are the activities of Westchester County Chapter?
The Art of Living Foundation Westchester County Chapter has offered programs and workshops that have affected over 2000 people in the local area including employees of major corporations and members and practitioners of local medical community.
In addition, the Westchester County Chapter offers free health and stress management workshops to the local community. Among its services have been free 5 day workshops to patients of hypertension, diabetes at Albert Einstein College Medicine in the Bronx, NY, wellness workshops for medical students and medical residents, 6 day workshops to residents of half-way home in a facility called BASIC affiliated with Martin Luther King Jr. Health Center located in the Bronx .
The chapter has been offering wellness seminars for New York Medical College (NYMC) students at Valhalla Campus on a regular basis. There are weekly meetings of SO-HUM club members held in NYMC, Valhalla campus which offers group meditation & breathing techniques designed for stress management.
The Westchester chapter has also worked with local non-profits including Children’s Village and Aids Related Community Services (ARCS) in the county whereby yearly Thanks giving & Christmas gifts are distributed to children.
